Of course, we had to do some history stuff, so dad had the crew out the door and headed for Lexington, MA to see the site of the first battle of the Revolutionary War. The kids (and a dorky looking big kid in the middle of the line) got a little hands on history when a park ranger, dressed in theme, took them through some militia training as if they were minutemen in the 1700's.
That's a disciplined looking militia that would've put fear into the hearts of the British! By the way, don't fear, we didn't add another kid to our family during this trip....we didn't know the kid in the orange shirt.
From Lexington we drove 3 hours to Albany, NY and got there in the mid-afternoon leaving plenty of time to enjoy the hotel pool (again!). And, this hotel happened to have a pickleball court/basketball court that we played on for about 3 hours straight.
This was just the kind of fun, restful afternoon/evening that we needed before a big day tomorrow driving across upstate New York to the Baseball Hall of Fame and Niagara Falls.
